Home is Us Book Talk

Dr. Jackie Ogega is the Senior Director of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion at World Vision USA. A Kenyan-American survivor of gender-based violence, genital cutting, and domestic abuse, Dr. Ogega will speak about her new memoir Home Is Us is the story of her mother’s struggle in male- dominated Kenya to protect herself and her three daughters from violence; fight for their right to own land and a business; control their own finances; and pursue an education. Dr. Ogega will be joined at the talk by her powerful and inspiring mother, Marcella, who is visiting the States from her Kenyan village.  Dr. Ogega is co-founder and president of Mpanzi Empowering Women and Girls, which supports hundreds of women and girls in rural Kenya through education, violence prevention, and livelihoods.
